The remedies were never lost. The instructions were.
You may remember hearing about a ginger tonic, a herbal tea or a remedy your grandmother kept close. But knowing its name isn't the same as knowing what to look for or how to prepare it.
Now you can explore 101 traditional preparations in one illustrated reference. Papa Nyah brings together everyday ingredients, roots and herbs from Caribbean and worldwide traditions, with straightforward shopping guidance and preparation steps.
Turn to a chapter that interests you. Find the ingredients. Understand the method. Keep the knowledge within reach.

Papa Nyah grew up in Jamaica in a home where the kitchen was the pharmacy. He remembers his grandmother turning to her garden and cupboard for familiar leaves, roots and spices.
He watched that everyday knowledge become harder to pass down. So he started writing it down, gathering traditions from the Caribbean and from other parts of the world, and making the ingredients and methods easier to find.
In his afterword, he calls the book a beginning, a door—a way to explore old practices and keep the knowledge alive, not a replacement for modern medical care.
“That is what I am doing now. I am passing it to you.”
— Papa Nyah
